30 days of beauty, day 8: scenes from an "urban homestead"

Ok, so I don't really think we're quite deserving of that term, yet.
But I think we're well on our way.

(The sap you see boiling was canned today: a little more than a quart, so far.)

Back to regular posting soon; we're battling a nasty bug here. This time in the spring-y weather yesterday helped us on our path to wellness.

ooh, i so wish we could make sugar here! and i too wonder at which point people can call themselves urban homesteaders. do thirteen chickens, 20+ fruit trees and a front yard filled with raised beds make us urban homesteaders? hope you all feel better soon!

The girls look happy poking around outside in the sun. I wish we had sugar maples to tap. You're so lucky to be able to make your own.

Feel better!
